As an owner of a brand-spanking new puppy, I’ve come to realize that it would be nice if people would applaud for me when I take a crap in the right place.

I don't doubt that when you were younger, as in of an age comparable to that of your puppy's current age, your parents applauded your ability to crap in the right place. So really you've already felt the joy of being a rock star just for being able to sit on a porcelain orifice and internally massage your intestines.
The really thought provoking part of this idea is that the puppy will never reach an age in which it will applaud it's puppies for crapping in the right place :)
